Farmers should be represented on the MMA/ADA board

Dear Editor,

Both Guysuco and the MMA/ADA are government holdings. The President of GAWU is a PPP/C member of parliament and is on the Guysuco board; the General Secretary of the PPP/C is also a member of the board.

The President said Guysuco was not performing and the Guysuco board was changed.

What about the MMA/ADA? There is the chairman of the board, and also the Regional Chairman who is a member of parliament, along with Mr Seeraj, the General Secretary of the Guyana Rice Producers Association.

Will Mr Seeraj represent the farmers or the government?

The MMA/ADA board has no farmers. It should have the Minister of Agriculture as chairman  with four farmers – two from Abary, one from Mahaica and one from Mahaicony.

Yours faithfully,
Bramdeow Singh
