Dear Editor,

One of my friends sent me an article in the Caribbean Life Magazine out of New York of October 7th captioned ‘Solar power systems for Guyanese: Jagdeo’. In this article, the President was quoted as telling a group from the Guyanese Diaspora “every household in Guyana will be outfitted with solar power systems within the next three years in keeping with his initiative to lower carbon greenhouse gas emission.”  This is great news if it is true and implemented.  Or is it a promise like the one to audit the Carifesta funds and lay it in Parliament? Or the decision to have the Freedom of Information Act laid in Parliament within two months?

Or the promise to make all the Constitutional Commis-sions fully functional? Or the promise of hydroelectric power by 2010?

We wait and see where Guyana is in three years’ time.  I am sick and tired of all these presidential promises and low presidential deliverables.

Yours faithfully,
Sasenarine Singh
