Dear Editor,
I was up north between October 24 and November 15 and since I do not know about the information superhighway I couldn’t keep abreast with local news, but I did walk with a picture of the Kaieteur Fall and sold Guyana to all those Canadians I met.

Upon my return I learned about the youth who was tortured by the police and the doctor who examined him with his head covered. I also learned the President has ruled that taxis must all have one colour. It will enhance tourism and probably it is a good move. However, one would have thought the President would have moved to get cows and other animals off our major roads and phase out animal-drawn vehicles, giving back pedestrians the pavement.

Getting these nuisances off our highways and streets is far more urgent that changing the colour of taxis. But as Burnham once said, ‘You have to set your priorities right,’ so I guess the President has set his.
Yours faithfully,
WP George
