Dear Editor,

I know this issue has been ventilated on several occasions, but I do believe that those being affected by the unbelievably insensitive nature of animal owners (cows, donkeys,  goats, fierce dogs… you name it) in Diamond Housing Scheme should have their problems addressed.

The major concern right now, is the destruction of people’s lots by arguably the country’s healthiest cows. They are massive. They are healthy. They are frighteningly destructive. There have been instances when persons have had infrastructure (in one case a wall) knocked down by these ‘invaders.’

Something is not right when hundreds of cows are roaming an intended township (or at this point a residential area) virtually destroying everything in sight, and no one can reach their owner(s) to warn about possible consequences or take appropriate action. I am willing to bet that if some of these animals turn up dead, the owners and the authorities will suddenly display a sense of urgency about putting things right. I’m not advocating this modus operandi, but I can tell you that the residents of Diamond Housing Scheme are losing their cool with this disrespectful and disdainful trampling of their existence.

It doesn’t matter where you live in the Diamond Housing Scheme (be it low income or high income) you are a target of constant invasions.

Minister of Housing and Water Irfaan Ali, has been doing a good job with respect to ensuring that the water situation improves significantly, so I turn to the individual who I believe is the relevant authority – Minister of Local Government and Regional Development Kellawan Lall –and ask the simple question, what is really going on?  I’m not sure where Minister Lall lives, but it is interesting to note that human beings are living among cows in Diamond Housing Scheme. The Minister needs to step it up in what is fast becoming Cowland. It is totally unacceptable for the situation to remain as is. Something definitive must be done.

By the way, Minister Robeson Benn should be advised that all the access roads from First Street right down to the back, need a fair degree of rehabilitation.

Maybe the media could highlight these issues.
