UG faculty TT competition set for today

The inter-faculty table tennis competition for the academic year 2008/2009 which was scheduled to commence on January 19 will now take place today.

The competition will be held in the cafeteria of the university and matches are scheduled to begin from 5:30pm daily.

Eight teams will vie for the two spots in the February 6 final with teams from the Faculty of Technology and Staff, starting as favourites.

Following the tournament a squad will be short-listed for training to represent the university at local, regional and international tournaments.

The Farfan and Mendes Trophy will be up for grabs for the winning faculty in the competition and there will also be medals for finalists and the best male and female players.
