Charlestown Secondary School females along with Bishops’ High School (BHS) and Government Technical Institute (GTI) rallied to easy wins in this year’s Ministry of Sport Mashramani Inter-Schools Basketball Tournament at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

On Thursday evening, Charlestown Secondary females outdid the New Campbellville Secondary School 35 – 16.

BHS then rolled over Plaisance Secondary School (PSC) 52-10 while GTI demolished the New Campbellville Secondary (NCS) males 88-12.

In the curtain raiser of the triple header the females had a close first half which ended 12-14 in the eventual winner’s favour.

Campbellville’s Towquantor Gibson scored all of her team’s points at the conclusion of the game while Charlestown’s Tamara Hunter was the pick of the match with 20 points for her team.

Bishops’ made light work of Plaisance in the second encounter.
BHS reigned superior in every aspect of the match-up, overpowering their opponents in size, speed and skill.

It was a lop-sided affair at the end of the first 15 minutes with BHS way ahead on 25 points while Plaisance struggled behind with just four points on the board.
 
At the resumption of the final half BHS led by Yannick Dundas, Tessrick Rambisson and Wainwright Haynes, who all scored 16 points each, shut the door completely on PSC.

GTI had a stroll in the park when they met NCS in a match that clearly showed who had more organized game play.

GTI did not let up for a second leading 46-5 at the end of the first half.

When play resumed, triple figures looked a sure bet for the well composed GTI team with Darrion Lewis recording 24 points that was laced mainly with three-point baskets.

Unfortunately for GTI, even with the help of Keyon Hayles, Darren Samuels and Colwin Nurse who put up 20, 14 and 12 points respectively, they still fell short by 12 points, scoring 42 points in the final half against NCS’s seven points.
