The Georgetown selectors yesterday named a 14- member squad to participate in the Nalico/Nafico round-robin competition which starts on Thursday.

Tagenarine Chanderpaul, son of West Indies batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul is included in the squad which will be led by Shaquille Williams with Sunil Rupee as the vice-captain. Batsman Mark Rigby, son for former Guyana U-19 player Anthony Rigby is also included. The Georgetown team will battle with West Coast Demerara in the first of their three round robin matches before taking on the East Coast and East Bank Demerara sides.

The two teams with the most points at the end of the round robin competition will contest a final after which the Demerara Cricket Board (DCB) selectors will choose the players to participate in the Demerara trials.

Demerara,  Essequibo and Berbice will battle in the annual Inter-County tournament from February 28.

The Georgetown selectors have also named eight players to be on standby.

The squad is: Shaquille Williams, (captain), Sunil  Rupee, (vice-captain), Mohan Ramdeen,  Christopher Surat, Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Chanderpaul Hemraj, Mark Rigby, Dinesh Mangal, Kareem Naughton,  Almundo Dowman, Kumar Singh,  Shivnandand Roopnarine,  Cleon Critchlow and  Dexter George.
The standby’s are:Trealon Liverpool, Vishnu  Singh, Sohail  Hussain,  Pavindralall  Persaud,  Diquan  Murray,  Omesh  Danaram,  Clairmont  Duesbury and  Nicholas de Caires.
