The BK International Western Tigers football team defeated Flamingo 3-1 on Sunday at the Tucville Ground to capture the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) organized Banks Beer first division title and the sum of $150,000.

In the second match of the double header Beacon United Football Club demolished Black Pearl 3 – 0.

In the feature encounter Devon Millington drew first blood for Western Tigers in the second half.

Western Tigers had controlled the ball for most of the encounter which was affected by rain which drenched the field for several minutes at intervals.

It became difficult for both teams with players losing control of the ball owing to the slippery conditions but Millington, however, was able to maintain his balance and control and scored in the 49th minute.  Western Tigers rallied to score two more goals even after the team was reduced to 10 players after Phillip Rowley was given a red card in the 33rd minute.

Nedd Fraser scored the second goal in the 62nd minute while Dwayne Daniels joined the party with his goal five minutes before regulation time.

Shem Porter scored a 66th minute consolation goal for Flamingo who received the runner-up prize of $75,000.

Third place finishers Beacon will receive a cash incentive of $50,000 while Black Pearl will receive the fourth place prize of $25,000. All the top place finishers will be awarded trophies.
