GCB/Castrol Under-15 Inter-county

Demerara to face Berbice this weekend

Defending champions Demerara will square off with their nemesis Berbice today and tomorrow in the final two matches of this year’s Guyana Cricket Board (GCB)/Castrol sponsored Under-15 Inter-county tournament at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence from 09:30hrs. With both teams recording victories over Essequibo in their first round encounters, a win in either of the two matches for Demerara would certainly guarantee them the title as Berbice who lost the championships to Demerara last year, have to record back to back victories to reclaim it. Demerara will be led by Shaquille Williams and he can expect support from Christopher Surat, Chanderpaul Hemraj, Tyrone Bobb, Sunil Rupee, Brian Sattaur and Chandrika Persaud.

The Berbicians will be hoping that Veerapen Permaul can locate the form he had at the same venue two weeks ago when he stroked an unbeaten 87 for Corentyne, which in collaboration with Gudakesh Motie’s 4-15 guided their team to a convincing 112 runs victory over Wakenaam/Leguan combined in the GCB/ Ministry of Education Inter-secondary schools final. Skipper Shawn Pereira, Lloydel Lewis, Jamal Jarvis, Shalendra Shameer and Ravindra Dasrath can all add valuable support to Permaul and Motie for their team,  making this  50 overs-a-side encounter  exciting. Team Demerara from: Shaquille Williams, Brian Sattaur, Christopher Surat, Chandrika Persaud, Sunil Rupee, Chanderpaul Hemraj, Tyrone Bobb, Dinesh Mangal, Poorandra Jaigobin, Mark Rigby, Kaveem Naughton, Ceon Critchlow and Diquan Murray. Team Berbice from: Shawn Pereira, Veerapen Permaul, Lloydel Lewis, Jamal Jarvis, Trevon Thomas, Videsh Lall, Linden Austin, Kevin Ramdeen, Ravindra Dasrat, Bisham Deolall, Gudakesh Motie, Jamal Henry, Davendra Jainabi and Shalindra Shameer.
