GCB/ Gafoors 2020

Final preliminary round action takes place today

The seventh and final round of action in the Demerara zone of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB)/ Gafoors-sponsored first division 2020 cricket competition will take place today at various venues from 14:00hrs.

Five matches are slated for the day and they involve Lusignan hosting Transport Sports Club with Gavin D’Aguiar and Gayanand Sukhdeo officiating, while University of Guyana (UG) will face Guyana Defence Force (GDF) at Police, under the supervision of Hortence Isaacs and Ava Baker.

At Everest Cricket Club, Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) will face the home team with Eddie Nicholls and Shannon Crawford being the men in charge, while Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) will journey to Enterprise, where they will face East Coast.

Whilst Daverteeth Anandjit and Gowkanand Dindial are the officials for the MSC/East Coast match-up and  Nigel Duguid and Andrew Allen will be the men in charge of the Police Sports Club (PSC)/Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) clash at DCC.

Meanwhile Central Essequibo and Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTYSC) are the Essequibo and Berbice zone winners respectively, as the two zones completed their preliminaries last November,  qualifying for the semi-finals where they await the Demerara zone winners and runners-up.

The dates and venue for the semi-finals and final have  already been set by the Competitions Committee of the GCB, with the famous GCC, Bourda ground being the venue. The dates are 25th March for the semi-finals and the finals will be played two days later.
