Jamaica on the ropes after leading Barbados

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC – Careless batting in Jamaica’s second innings undid the hard work of their bowlers, led by Nikita Miller, after they gained first innings points over Barbados in their 10th round match in the WICB regional four-day competition yesterday.

Left-arm spinner Miller collected five wickets for 33 runs from 22.4 overs, as Jamaica gained a 117-run, first innings lead, when they dismissed Barbados for 155 about 10 minutes before tea on the second day of the match at Kensington Oval.

But the Jamaicans allowed the Barbadians to get back into the match, when they slumped to 103 for five in their second innings at the close – to extend their lead to 220.

At stumps, Brendan Nash was undefeated on 30 – the top score so far – and Carlton Baugh Jr was five not out.

Leg-spinner Nikolai Charles has been the pick of the Barbados bowlers with two for 23 from 11 overs, and Kevin Stoute has taken two for 31 from the same number of overs.
