Banks meet slated for next Sunday

The Ryan Crawford Memorial Turf Club and Sports Facility (RCMTCSC) will come alive on Sunday, March 29 when the Banks DIH Limited sponsored horse racing meet runs off.

With over $2m in prizes up for grabs, horse owners and jockeys are expected to put their best foot forward not only to meet Sunday’s deadline for entries but at the same time give horse racing fans their monies worth at the races, the first of four meets by the club for the year.

Eight events are carded for the day with the feature event being listed at number seven, carrying a first prize of $250,000 and covering a distance of 1200 meters for B and Lower Class horses, thanks to the sponsorship of beverage giant  Banks DIH.

Meanwhile, owing to adjustments being made for races number three (Guyana and West Indian bred three-years-old) and number six after horse owners expressed dissatisfaction at having their three-year-old horses compete alongside four-year-olds,  the first race will be contested as a three-years-old non- winner event and the latter a three-years-old Open.
Horse owners are asked to have their horses properly classified and registered with the Guyana Horse Racing Authority (GHRA) for this event, as failure to do so will prevent the horse from competing at the meet.
For further information, horse owners can contact Ishan Habibulla (Rising Sun) on 624-9213, Bobby Vaughn (333-0301 or 333-0290), Mrs. Lillian Crawford (331-0048) or Lionel Moonsammy (328-7253) to have their horses registered.
