Four teams will invade the Tucville playfield this evening as the Georgetown Football Association (GFA) organized Banks Premium Beer knockout competition gets underway with what promises to be an exciting double header.

The competition, which involves the eight premier league and eight first division teams, will see Northern Rangers opposing  Sunburst Camptown at 6pm in the curtain raiser while Santos FC will come up  against Flamingo Football Club in the feature match-up at 8pm.

The 16 competing teams are: Alpha United Football Club, Sunburst Camptown, Guyana Defence Force (GDF), Fruta Conquerors, Georgetown Football Club (GFC), Pele, Santos, Uprising, BK Western Tigers, Flamingo, Beacons, Black Pearl, Thomas United, Houston Stars, Northern (Kitty) Rangers and the University of Guyana Football Club.

The winning team is expected to receive $300,000 and the runner-up $150,000.

Third and fourth place finishers are expected to receive $75,000 and $50,000 respectively.

Individual prizes such as the highest goal scorer, best goalkeeper and most valuable player of the final are also up for grabs.

There is also a prize for the most disciplined team.

The action continues on Sunday at the Tucville playfield with another double header featuring Fruta Conquerors and Thomas United in the opening match and Uprising against BK Int’l Western Tigers in the second encounter.
