- Kanhai named MVP

The McKenzie High School (MHS) maintained their dominance of school basketball in Linden by winning the Ministry of Sport inter-school tournament when they th rashed the Linden Technical Institute (LTI) 64-33 on Tuesday at the Mackenzie Sports Club hard court.

Witnessed by a large crowd MHS maintained their edge over their rivals LTI thanks to yet another superb showing by their star player Akeem Kanhai.

Kanhai, who has led his team to the final over Linden Foundation Secondary (LFS) by scoring 33 points, repeated his performance and dropped 21 points while also being named the Most Valuable Player (MVP of the tournament.

For the losers, national junior player Orin Rose ended with 16 points while Kevin Johnson chipped in with eight points.
Meanwhile in the third place play off, LFS made light work of Christianburg Wismar Secondary (CWSS) 30-19.
Godfrey La Rose led the score sheets for the winners netting nine points while Mohammad had six.
For the CWSS side only Quacy Rice showed some resistance in scoring nine points.
