The National Referees Committee (NRC) in collaboration with the Guyana Football Referees Council (GFRC) successfully completed a Beginners Referees Course in Berbice  last weekend at the Blairmont Community Center ground, West Berbice.

Six persons participated and recorded a 100% success with Sherwin Johnson of Number 5 Village, West Coast Berbice, a field foreman attached to Guysuco, topping the class with 92%. He was also one of three persons who were successful at the Fitness Run held on Saturday at the same venue.

Following closely with 85% was electrician Phillip Thomas of Zorg-en-Hoop Scheme, Blairmont, while Rajesh Bissoondial who hails from Rosignol recorded 83% to achieve the third best score.

Other successful participants were Paul Azeez of Blairmont, Julian Mohabir of Sheet Anchor Village, East Canje and lone female Verlinda Collins, a trainee nurse from Ithaca Village, West Bank Berbice.

Colin Bowry of New Amsterdam and Kleon Lindie of Number 5 Village were all successful at the Fitness Run  with Johnson.

The sessions were conducted by Referee/Instructor and Assessor Lawrence Griffith.

Meanwhile the NRC/GFRC will be conducting a similar Beginners Course at the Carifesta Sports Complex, Carifesta Avenue,  on Saturday  and Sunday commencing at 09:00 hrs both days.

A Fitness Run is also scheduled on Saturday morning from 06:00 hrs at Eve Leary Sports Club ground.
