Camptown ousts Golden Stars in penalty shoot-out

Sunburst Camptown eliminated Golden Grove’s Golden Stars from the Mackeson Stout/Digicel Sweet 16 Football Competition in a nail biting encounter at the Plaisance Community Centre Ground last evening.
Golden Stars perished 5–6 on penalty kicks after being deadlocked 2-2 and 3-3 at the end of regulation and extra times respectively.

Golden Stars drew first blood in the 10th minute and led 1–0 at half time then doubled their lead thanks to the successful strikes from Jason Clement and Randy King who scored in the 10th and 51st minutes respectively.

Camptown soon got into their stride and narrowed the lead to one, compliments of an Anthony Belfield strike in the 66th minute. The equalizer by Telson McKinnon at the stroke of regulation time took the game into extra time.

The East Bank team led 3–2 after striking first in extra time then Camptown equalized again after Troy Prescod found the back of the net from an equalizer which pushed the game into a dreaded penalty shoot-out Camptown won 6–5.
