Saints students were taken through the techniques of ball handling and shooting skills by President of Everything Basketball promotion, Kezqweyah Yisrael who is also a player coach for the Maccabees ball club.

According to Yisrael, the idea was driven by his passion for the game along with making sure that Guyana’s basketball has a future and he believes that the best way to start is through the school system.

Special emphasis, he says, will be paid to females because in Guyana, not many young women are interested in the sport. The students will also be taken through classroom sessions where DVDs will be used to illustrate the fundamentals of basketball.

Next stop for the clinic will be St Roses followed by Bishops’ High and Queen’s College and then the body will set a new programme for their developmental project.

They were high in praise of several businesses in and around Georgetown which also included the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport which they say has given much support to the initiative.
