DCC and LCC to meet in 20/20 final

Demerara zone finalists Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) and Lusignan Cricket Club (LCC) will meet in the final of the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB)/Gafoors sponsored nationwide first division 20/20 final today at the Georgetown Cricket Club ground from 13:00 hrs.

LCC will be going into this encounter with an advantage, having defeated their opponents in the Demerara zone final, followed by a comprehensive 73 runs victory over Central Essequibo in their national semifinal encounter on Friday.

But the Queenstown-based DCC team will be going all out for revenge against a team given to choking at the last hurdle, having reached numerous finals in local cricket.

DCC will be calling on the expertise of Stanford superstar Travis Dowlin along with national players in all rounder Christopher Barnwell, wicketkeeper/batsman Derwin Christian and fast bowler Trevon Garraway. Add national Under-19 opener Trevon Griffith, Dennis Squires, Teralph Scipio, Seon Bristol, Leroy Primo, Dennis Horatio and their hero for the semis against Rose Hall Town Windies Sports Bar (RHTWSB) Cowen Ismond to the line-up, and certainly LCC’s work has been cut out for them.

But LCC can also boast of a powerful line-up led by the pugnacious Vishnu Ramjeet, former national Under-19 opener Krishna Deosarran and Harrinarine Hira, all three of whom DCC should be wary of. Support in the batting department will come from Narvan Singh, wicketkeeper/batsman Nirmaldeo Sarwan and Hardeo Sattaur.

Their spin based bowling which worked wonders against Central Essequibo, is being led by former national Under-15 left arm spinner Emran Khan, with full support from Ramjeet, Singh, Sattaur, Kumar Bishundyal and fast bowler Dellon Hamilton.

Meanwhile, representatives of the sponsors and executives of the GCB will be meeting both teams before the first ball is bowled at 12:45 hrs, with the presentation of prizes scheduled to be held after the game.
