E’bo and Berbice to clash from today

Defending champions Berbice will play their first match of this year’s Guyana Cricket Board (GCB)/GTNM sponsored Under-19 Inter-county three day competition, when they take on points leader Essequibo at the Anna Regina Community Centre ground.

Berbice will be led by national Under-19 wicketkeeper Anthony Bramble, who will have National Under-19 players in all-rounders Seon Hetmyer and Jonathan Foo and fast bowler Keyron Fraser for support.

Former national Under-15 skipper Harrinarine Chattergoon, national Under-17 batsman Joemal La Fleur along with Terrence Madramootoo, Alex Amsterdam and the hard hitting Manoj Pooranauth are also included in the defending champions 14 man squad.

Essequibo will be brimming with confidence for this match, as they are coming off the back of a first innings victory over Demerara and were it not for bad light which stopped play with Demerara 19 runs away from victory with two wickets remaining, they probably would have repeated last year’s performance wherein they had upset the then champions in the first round.

National under-19 batsman Royston Alkins is at the helm and along with Ravindra Parsram, Herrell Greene, Floyd Henry, Navin Singh and Anthony Adams in the line-up, the team from the Ancient County should expect a battle for this year’s championship.

The bowling of the Cinderella County lies on the shoulders of fast bowler Rensford Beaton who displayed aggression against Demerara with adequate support from Adams, Alkins and Henry  and certainly, Essequibo will be looking to prove to their supporters that the advantage gained over Demerara were no fluke.
Teams from:
Berbice: Anthony Bramble, Jonathan Foo, Seon Hetmyer, Eon Hooper, Harrinarine Chattergoon, Manoj Pooranauth, Alex Amsterdam, Joemal La Fleur, Sherwin Mc Pherson, Terrence Madramootoo, Trinson Carmichael, Sahadeo Somai, Clarence Beresford and Keyron Fraser.

Essequibo from: Royston Alkins, Ravindra Parsram, Herrell Greene, Grayson Paul, Christopher Blucher, Suresh Persaud, Rensford Beaton, Rovi Harris, Floyd Henry , Anthony Adams, Dwayne Singh, Tulsiram Premnauth, Kevin Boodie and Navin Singh.
