Spain keep top spot in FIFA world rankings

LONDON, (Reuters) – European champions Spain remained  unchallenged at the top of FIFA’s world rankings published yesterday which showed no movement at all in the top 39 places  after a quiet month with little international activity.

Spain have now been top for 11 months with Germany remaining  in second place and the Netherlands third with world champions  Italy fifth, one place behind Brazil in fourth spot.

Since last month’s rankings only 22 internationals were  played, 20 in the qualifying round for the 2010 Asian Challenge  Cup and two friendlies in Africa.

The rankings are based on team’s performances over the last  four years.
