National striker Randolph ‘Black Head’ Jerome was once again in the spot light of the United Soccer League’s (USL) second division championship after helping the Pittsburgh Riverhounds to a 2-1 win against Real Maryland Monarchs.

After a scoreless first half, the Pittsburgh Riverhounds swarmed the Real Maryland Monarchs’ goal early in the second stanza.

Defender Nathan Salsi headed the ball into the opposition’s right post, but Jerome blasted the rebound in past custodian David Kern, and the Hounds were unleashed as they went ahead 1-0 in their first home match of the season.

Jerome, who was acquired from USL second division champions Cleveland in the offseason, was injured on the play and had to leave the pitch for medical attention, leaving Pittsburgh to played with a man down.

This is the second time from as many matches that the Guyanese has helped his side secure a win and the team will take their unbeaten record back onto the road this Saturday when they travel to the state capital to meet the Harrisburg City Islanders in a Keystone State showdown.

Last year the Hounds were 0 and 10 and their recent change of wins are due to the acquisition of two Golden Jaguars in Jerome and Sean Cameron , both of whom are currently being manage by Garth Nelson.
