The Mike’s Pharmacy 15-Over Countrywide Softball Competition which is organized by the Guyana Softball League (GSL) was officially launched Thursday after the handing over of the sponsorship cheque.

The competition which begins June 14 includes some 14 zones from around the country where Berbice includes Orealla, Siparuta, Upper and Lower Corentyne and New Amsterdam/Canje.
Essequibo consists of North and South, Wakenaam, Bartica and Leguan while Demerara has Upper and Lower East Coast, Georgetown, East Bank, West Bank, West Coast and Linden.
According to a press release from the GSL, the tournament is expected to be a unique one as there will be four categories: Regular/Open, Females who will be vying for the Well-woman Trophy, Over-40who will be competing for the Wellman Trophy and the Under-15 level for the Kiddy Care Trophy.
Trophies and cash prizes will be up for grabs from the quarter- final stage for the Regular/Open, Females and Over 40 categories while the under-15 level will receive wickets, bats and balls along with cash incentives for the top teams.
Meanwhile, in all the categories the finalists will be outfitted with jerseys from the organization.
The GSL expressed their gratitude to the sponsor who has pumped in excess of $500,000 in the tournament and assured that his initiative to help the GSL will go a long way.

Hats off to the Guyana Softball League i have been following all the tournament organized by this organization and i find them very active,,,they are doing a wonderful job in bringing people together.
