The match-up between the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph (GT&T) sponsored North Ruimveldt and the Giftland Office Max All-Star team is certainly the talk of the town and tonight, the two teams will put those words to the test when they clash in an All-Star game dubbed ‘The settlement of all confrontations.’

After North Ruimveldt made a clean sweep of the recently-concluded George-town Inter-ward tournament, the organizers were forced to assemble an All-Star team since some players believe that the team was not as invincible as they perceived to be.
Speaking with Stabroek Sport yesterday, North’s point guard Darcel Harris said he believed that they are what they say they are which is “the best in the business”.

He added that while his guys would be coming out to put on a show for the spectators, the game will be viewed just as seriously as the finals since they have a point to prove.

“Well, we like the challenge and I think we have the capacity and skill to pull it off because, if you look at the team, it’s like we’re coming up against a possible national team, so its no push over, but we will win,” said Harris.
He added: “It’s not going to be easy, but my players, they all know that we have to keep our bragging rights also, so, it’s going to be a good game.”

The All-Star team, coached by Naylon Loncke features some of the best players from teams that took part in the Inter-ward tournament and Loncke said he believes this is one game that North Ruimveldt is not going to win.

Sounding almost certain that his charges will prevail, Loncke told this newspaper: “We are taking this game very, very serious; it’s  like a revenge for me and my players because, most of them were defeated by North as well.”

The night’s proceedings will bounce off with a Slam Dunk competition which is expected to be dominated by 19-year-old Tyron Hamid.

The youth grew to stardom after last year’s Supligen All-Star weekend winning both the junior and the senior competitions with his extraordinary leaping ability and Showtime dunks. And if he pulls this off tonight, he can go home $30,000 richer.

The sum of $100,000 will be given to the winner of the grudge match with $50,000 going to the runners up.
