Action-packed weekend for football lovers

Permitting that the weather holds up, football fans will be in for a football treat this weekend with matches in different age groups and categories which include Under-11, Under-17, First Division and Premier League with all matches scheduled to be contested at the Tucville Playfield and Camptown grounds.

The action which began last evening with a combined Georgetown Football Association (GFA) double header at the Tucville Playfield will continue this morning with two Trix Under-17 double headers.

At the Camptown ground, Uprising will face Riddim Squad from 8am while Black Pearl will tackle BK International Western Tigers two hours later.

Simultaneously but at the Tucville Playfield, Santos and Alpha United will commence battle while from 10am Georgetown Football Club will clash with Fruta Conquerors.

Meanwhile, the second annual Courts Pee Wee Under-11 Tournament which was halted due to the inclement weather will resume tomorrow at the Camptown Ground with five matches.

Renaissance and Western Tigers will be opposed by Santos and Buxton United respectively in simultaneous opening encounters while Fruta Conquerors and Thomas United will go head to head with Riddim Squad and Uprising respectively.

In the final encounter at 3pm, Pele will be opposing yesteryear’s runner up Sunburst Camptown.

Tomorrow afternoon, first division footballers will invade the Camptown ground with a double header.
Riddim Squad will oppose the University of Guyana at 2pm while Sunburst Camptown will face Fruta Conquerors at 8pm in the final of the Camptown Goodwill Series.
