Everest four-team softball

A terrific all-round performance from Demerara’s former inter-county softball cricketer Talesh Ramoutar spurred Everest to a 20-run win over Part Plus’s XI in the final of the four-team 15-overs-a-side softball competition at the Everest Cricket Club ground on Saturday.

The left-handed Ramoutar slammed an unbeaten 31 and returned to grab three wickets as Everest, who scored 159-9 off their allotted overs, dismissed the Part Plus’s XI side for 139.

Ramtour’s innings included four fours and one six.

Avinash Persaud grabbed 4-31 from three overs for Part Plus’s XI.

Chowtie Motielall top scored for Part Plus XI with a fighting 31 while Ramjewan Prashad chipped in with 23.

Vicky Sooknanand picked up 2-3 for Everest.

In the first two semi-final matches, Part Plus’s XI crushed Speed’s XI by five wickets while Everest defeated Number Two Village of West Berbice by 60 runs.

Everest received the winning team trophy while Ramoutar received the man-of-the match trophy compliments of Cell Phone Shack.

Richard Latif, who scored a brilliant 107 in the first game, took home a trophy for being the best batsman while the best bowler award went to Persaud of Part Plus’s XI.

Speed’s XI Sanjay Singh took home the best catcher trophy.

Jagdesh Persaud of Everest was adjudged the best fielder earning a trophy in the process.

The four individual trophies were sponsored by Trophy Stall of Bourda Market and City Mall.

The four teams are set to collide again on July 5 at the same venue for another floodlight tourney.
