KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC – West Indies skipper Chris Gayle says he is looking forward to seeing Darren Bravo’s international debut but wants the stylish left-hander to simply enjoy the experience if selected for the opening One-Day International against India today.

“It is good to have the likes of Bravo in the team. He has been getting a few runs in the domestic competition so he has been batting really well and we have been looking at him before,” Gayle said.

“He has gotten his opportunity here now against a good competitive team and hopefully he can stamp his authority.”

He added: “At the same time, we’re not looking for too much from Bravo at this particular time. We just want him to go out there and enjoy his game, be relaxed and do what he can.”

Bravo was drafted into the squad for the series following the Windies’ outing in the ICC World Twenty20 Champion-ship in England which concluded last week.

He was one of several changes made to the side with Runako Morton, Narsingh Deonarine and Ravi Rampaul returning to the unit.

The 20-year old, the younger brother of exciting all-rounder Dwayne Bravo, was rewarded for consistent performances in the four-day domestic tournament earlier this year where he gathered 605 runs at an average of 43 despite missing a couple of games through injury.

Gayle said while no pressure would be placed on the young batsman, he stressed that it would be important for him to make a good start to the four-match series.

“It would be good for him to show his class early up. I wish him all the best and hopefully he can get a good start,” the Jamaican noted.
