KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC – India are hoping for a win in the upcoming series against the West Indies to bury the ghosts of their dismal 2007 Cricket World Cup campaign.

India suffered a shock first round exit in CWC 2007 after losing to Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in Trinidad & Tobago.

“It’s not an easy thing to forget especially that World Cup,” captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni said yesterday.

“The last time we toured here we didn’t have a very good One Day Series – but we have the talent and the capacity to do well out here.”

India clash with West Indies in the first One-Day International of the four-match series at Sabina Park here today.

The series comes on the heels of India’s unsuccessful outing at the ICC World Twenty20 Championship in England where they were defending champions.
