National Schools Basketball Festival to bounce off today

Some 26 high schools from around the country will make their way to the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall today for the start of the 2009 National Schools Basketball Festival (NSBF) which will get underway from 2:00 pm with a lavish opening ceremony.

According to co-organizer Chris Bowman, of Street Solutions, the tournament this year is expected to be the biggest in the five year history because of the overwhelming corporate support and exceptional growth of talent in the schools.

Bowman said that schools are set to arrive at the venue at noon ahead of their official team meeting 30 minutes later.
Apart from a cultural display, representatives of the tournament’s sponsors are also expected to deliver remarks.
“I think that with the inclusion of Digicel this year it adds more life to the tournament and shows that it has grown over the years. So we have everything in place for a great tournament this year, one that we know will be exciting and I know that the schools are also prepared and ready for the tournament,” said Bowman.

He noted that six matches will be played today following the opening ceremony.
The event has been organised by Street Solutions and Next Level Entertainment (NLE) in collaboration with the National Sports Commission (NSC).
