Guyanese race walkers are expected to battle for supremacy when the Cavaliers Sports and Tours Club stages its Caricom Day race walk event.

According to a release from the organizers national race walk champion Rudolph Mitchell is the favourite to win the event and capture his 92nd title locally.

However, Mitchell can expect strong opposition from the promising Jonathan Fagundes.

Walkers will compete in the senior male and female, juniors, veterans and differently abled categories.

Trophies and other incentives are up for grabs said the release and added that interested persons must be at the starting line at 6am.

Co-coordinator of the club Olga Harry is appealing for support for the event.

According to the release Harry is appealing to the government, the business community and sports loving individuals to donate trophies and other prizes, water or transportation.

The donations can be sent to the club’s headquarters, Backroad, Soesdyke.

Financial contributions can be sent to Citizens Bank, Camp Street.
