Moen Gafoor was able beat stalwarts like Fred Collins and Julian Skeete to take home the winner’s trophy at this year’s Caricom Day Scrabble Tournament.

A total of 20 players from the scrabble association and members of the public gathered at Malteenoes Sports Club to play what turned out to be another mind boggling tournament. Gafoor won all six games and a positive spread of 330 while Fred Collins won five of his games with a positive spread of 421. Julian Skeete came in third with four games and a positive spread of 456.

Five players won four games,  including  Ulric Harris, Orlando Michael, Colin Chichester, Maurice Munroe and Yvonne Murray.

In the first game, Gafoor indicated his intention from the onset when he conquered Nicholas Grant by a spread of 195. He went on to surpass Collins and Krakowsky to play a successful game with three points and a positive spread of 134.

Gafoor in the final round played Collin Chichester to take home the championship trophy.
