Pistons appoint Kuester as new head coach

DETROIT, (Reuters) – The Detroit Pistons have  appointed Cleveland Cavaliers assistant John Kuester as their  new head coach, the NBA team announced yesterday.

Kuester has worked as an assistant coach at numerous NBA  outfits, including a spell with Detroit in 2003-04, but he has  not previously worked as a head coach.

Detroit, who are overhauling their squad, fired head coach  Michael Curry last month.

“There is no magic formula – our philosophy will be to do  things the right way. Hard work will be the key to our success,”  the 54-year-old Kuester told a news conference.
