Flamingo shrivels Alpha

It was thrills and spills on an action-packed second night of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and Georgetown Football Association,  Guinness Futsal  tournament at the  Cliff Anderson Sports Hall Monday.

In two of the key encounters the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) relentlessly crushed Independence Boulevard while  Flamingo trounced Alpha United.
Twelve goals were struck past the hapless Independence Boulevard team by GDF while Flamingo was the superior five-a-side squad as they dominated Alpha United to win 6 – 1.

Georgetown Football Club (GFC) defeated Ann’s Grove 4 – 1; Fruta Conquerors humbled Northern Rangers 4 – 0; Western Tigers crushed Black Pearl 5 – 1; Santos got past Beacon 2 – 1; Pele slammed BV Sideline Dam 3 – 1 and Sunburst Camptown drew 2 – 2 with Victoria Kings.

The matches billed for this evening are Independence Boulevard versus South Soesdyke, Northern Rangers versus Crane Rovers, Victoria Champions versus Houston Stars, Ann’s Grove Punters versus Uprising, Santos versus Plaisance, Western Tigers versus North Grove, Alpha United versus Buxton Back and Pele versus Riddim Squad.

Marlon Benjamin led the way for GDF with a hat-trick (10th, 16th and 17th) and was supported by Stellon David who recorded a double in the second and 20th minutes.

Fruta Conquerors’ Odel Williams drew first blood against Northern Rangers in the third minute while team mate Gerald Gittens sealed the deal in the 15th minute. A double from Santos’ Quacy Price who scored in the fourth and 18th minutes was enough to drown out Beacon’s one goal scored by Leon Fredericks in the fourth minute.

Troy Kellman, Solomon Austin and Calvin Shepherd scored in the second, sixth and 21st minutes respectively to help Pele defeat BV Sideline Dam who had just one goal from  Colin Jones in the first minute of the match.
