Sixteen top teams from the Georgetown and East Coast districts will battle for one million dollars when the Victoria King’s FC in association with Cool Crew Pro and Team Guyana-USA inaugural East Coast Reunion 2009 competition kicks off on Saturday at the Victoria Ground, East Coast Demerara.

Ann’s Grove will collide with Golden Grove in the curtain raiser that commences at 6pm while the feature match between Georgetown Football Club (GFC) and the host, Victoria Kings, kicks off at 8pm.
The East Coast teams in the fray are Plaisance, Ann’s Grove, Golden Grove, Buxton United, Mahaica, BV United, Bakewell Buxton Stars and Victoria Kings.

Alpha United, Pele FC, Sunburst Camptown, Fruta Conquerors, BK International Western Tigers, and GFC are the eight Georgetown teams.

Teams will be allowed a maximum of three guest players in their squad.
The runner-up team will receive $500,000 while third and fourth place finishers will be the recipients of $200,000 and $100,000 respectively and fifth – $50,000.

There will be a number of individual prizes for the Most Valuable Player (MVP) and the best goalkeeper along with prizes for the most disciplined and the best dressed teams.

Matches will be played at the Victoria, Beterverwagting and the GFC grounds from July 18 to August 2.
Tournament coordinator Mark Phillips said that they are hoping that the weather holds up so that the event would come off successfully.

This tournament shares a final date and first round match date with the Guinness Futsal competition which is currently in progress.

“We may have to do some shifting of dates to readily accommodate the smooth running of the competition” Phillips further stated.

A few of the major sponsors that came on board to assist in the running of the tournament include Banks DIH, Giftland Office Max, Nauth & Sons Construction Agency, Region Four Administration, Body Central Boutique and Colours.
