KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC – A maiden half-century from Jonathan Foo failed to save Guyana from a nine-wicket defeat to host Jamaica at Sabina Park on the final day of their second round TCL Group West Indies three-day Cup match yesterday.

Foo stroked 59 but Guyana crumbled for 210 in their second innings, setting Jamaica an uncomplicated target of 79 for victory in the final session.

Opener John Campbell then hit an unbeaten 42 from 63 balls with four fours to guide the hosts to 82 for one with six of the mandatory 15 overs left.

Resuming on 36 with Guyana on their overnight position of 98 for four, Foo hit fours and three sixes in an innings that lasted 124 balls and 156 minutes.

He got support from skipper Anthony Bramble (39) and Ronsford Beaton (20) but Guyana still lost wickets steadily to be bowled out at tea.

Foo eventually fell when he was caught and bowled by left-arm pacer Romeo Dunka, top-edging an ill-controlled hook to leave Guyana on 127 for seven.

Bramble’s defiant 39 from 110 balls in 130 minutes ended when he was superbly caught left-handed by Jermaine Blackwood at short-leg, as he pushed forward to part-time off-spinner Campbell.
