Conquerors, Pele, Uprising and Flamingo storm into semis

Fruta Conquerors will oppose Uprising while Pele will clash with Flamingo in the semi-finals of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport/Georgetown Football Club (GFA) Guinness Futsal Competition tomorrow  at the Cliff Anderson  Sports Hall.

On Sunday Conquerors defeated Santos 3 -1, Sunburst Camptown lost to Pele 1 – 0, Uprising narrowly defeated BK International Western Tigers 5 – 4 and Flamingo routed the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) team 2 – 0 in the quarter-final round.

In the first match, Conquerors led Santos 1 – 0 at the end of the first half, compliments of Odel Williams who scored the first of his two goals in the ninth minute.
Their lead was extended in the 19th minute by Julyon Harry, then Andy Duke scored for Santos the very next minute and made it a one goal game again. Williams recorded his double in the 21st minute, making victory a certainty for his team.

A third minute goal from Pele’s Shemroy Arthur was all that was needed for them to defeat Camptown in their battle.
The dynamic futsal giants, Pele, were able to hold off the opposition’s attack although they were unable to score themselves.

Phillip Rowley scored a hat-trick (11th, 12th and 26th) in vain for Western Tigers while being supported by Royon Thomas (14th).

The tournament’s futsal dominators, Flamingo, struck two goals past the GDF team.  Leon Yaw in the 19th and Deon Allen the 20th were the Flamingo scorers.

In the exhibition matches, the Media were humbled by the Ministry of Sport, La Penitence defeated Albouystown and the New GPC outdid the Referees.
