KINGSTON, Jamaica,  CMC – The Windward Islands snapped a four-game losing streak with a massive innings win over the Leeward Islands before lunch on the last day of their fifth and final round TCL Group West Indies Under-19 Three-day Cup match yesterday.

Following on 263 runs behind on first innings, the Leewards were bowled out for 145 in their second innings and lost by an innings and 118 runs at Melbourne more than half an hour before lunch.

Medium pacer Marvin Small captured three wickets to lead the Windwards’ bowling, handing the Leewards their third defeat.

From an overnight 77 for three, the Leewards’ innings slid rapidly toward defeat as their remaining seven wickets only added 68 runs.

Jamar Hamilton was the first wicket to fall, departing for 20 to pacer John Fabien at 87 for four and without addition to the score, Small bowled Shernyl Burns (22).

With the exception of Kelbert Walters (18), none of the lower-order batsmen got to double figures and the Windwards wrapped up the Leewards’ innings and celebrated victory at 11:24 local time.

Small finished with three for 38 off 12 overs, while Fabien (2-49), medium pacer Oscar George (2-16) and spinner Kavem Hodge (2-19) shared six wickets.
