Power Stout Inter-Market Football Tournament

East Ruimveldt will oppose Stewart/Leonora Market while Bourda will clash with Ann’s Grove Market tonight as the Inter-Market Football Competition which is sponsored by Power Stout continues with a double header at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground.

The East R/veldt/Leonora curtain raiser battle commences at 6pm and Bourda will tackle Ann’s Grove in the feature match at 8pm.

Teams will battle for the top prize of $150,000, while the second, third and fourth place finishers will receive $100,000, $75,000 and $50,000 respectively.

The tourney commenced on August 4 with one game played at GFC where Kitty Market defeated Buxton Market to move on to the next round.

Kitty won 3 – 0 against Buxton after being deadlocked at nil-all at the end of full and extra time. The eventual victors scored three of their four kicks while Buxton missed all three of theirs.

The other scheduled match for that day had defending champs La Penitence winning via the walkover route against Wales Market who failed to show up.

On Wednesday at the same venue, Plaisance Market edged out Parika Market 2 – 1. Dwayne Ali scored both goals for Plaisance in the 11th and 68th minutes while Devon Dash got the lone goal for Parika Market.

Plaisance led one-nil at half time then Parika equalized in the 67th minute through Dash but Ali replied with a scorcher. Merriman’s Mall and Golden Grove’s game was not contested because both teams failed to show up.
