Giddings, 23, and the 16-year-old Campbell have both spent time in the West Indies set-up and will lead Guyana’s bid as hosts to turn around their moderate record in the championship.

The tournament is slated for August 13-24 at various grounds in the country, including Bourda, Demerara Cricket Club, Police, Everest, and Wales.

The Guyanese will contest Zone B with Trinidad and Tobago, St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) and Grenada, while reigning champions Jamaica will tackle Barbados, St Lucia and Dominica in Zone A.

The semi-finals will be contested between the top two teams in each zone on August 22 at Everest and DCC Grounds with the two winners to meet in the final on August 23 at GCC.

The Demerara all-rounder Zaheeda Samdally, who was Guyana’s captain last year, Subrina Munroe and Tremayne Smartt are among the experienced players in the 14-member squad.

Fast bowler Olivia Oselmo, 15, returns for her second year in the competition.
