Minister of Sport gives helping hand to CIOG

The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport presented a quantity of sport equipment to the Central Islamic Organisation of Guyana (CIOG) yesterday as part of its drive to get young people involved in sport.

President of CIOG Fazeel Ferouz was present to receive the items on behalf of youths of Albouystown saying that he was very pleased to receive the gear which had been requested.

He said approximately 50 young leaders of tomorrow will benefit from the volleyball, basketball and football equipment that the Ministry had promised.

Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, Dr Frank Anthony said he was pleased to answer the call of the small community, hoping they would make full use of the balls and apparatus while encouraging their peers to do the same.

“What we are trying to do is get young people involved in sports activities and influence other young persons in these small communities. Then we can see inter and intra-village competitions in these small communities.”

Ferouz and coordinator Omar Hooper expressed thanks to the Ministry for supporting all their endeavours past, present and future.
