National Race Walker Rudolph Mitchell took his local consecutive victories into triple figures yesterday when he won the Cavaliers Sports and Tour Club (CSTC) National Sports Commission (NSC) 10K race around Soesdyke.

sunshine in front of a large crowd that  included Director of Sports Neil Kumar.

Trailing Mitchell in second place was Jerry Cornelius while Tortia Schemyer was third.

In the junior category, Ivla Charles secured first place, Dlayson Ralph finished second and David Harry was  third while Angela Charles and Sheneza Lloyd finished first and second respectively in the female category.

According to a press release from the CSTC, the Director of Sports on behalf of the NSC pledged the government’s full support to  the development of the sport and congratulated the club for its work in promoting race walking in Guyana.

All prizes for the event were donated by the NSC, Public Service Minister Dr. Jennifer Westford, Clarence Chue and the National AIDS Secretariat.
