PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – Work issues may force Trinidad & Tobago captain Daren Ganga to miss the lucrative Twenty20 Champions League in India next month.

The Trinidad Guardian newspaper here has reported that the former West Indies opener is experiencing difficulty in getting time off from his job to play in the October 8-23 tournament, which brings together the world’s top Twenty20 club teams.

The national team qualified for the Champions League after winning last year’s Stanford Twenty20 Championship.

Ganga, who has played 48 Tests and 35 One-Day Internationals for the West Indies, is employed by the state-owned oil company Petrotrin, where he works in the public relations department.

According to reports, Ganga has in the past been granted special leave to represent T&T but this year had to take vacation and no-paid leave in order to play.
The 30-year-old has raised the matter with the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board and the West Indies Players Association who are reportedly looking into the issue.
