Geron Williams, Kevin Jeffrey and Ian Jackson were victorious in their respective categories at the Victor Macedo Memorial cycle road race held on Sunday on the East Coast.

Members of the Flying Stars, Continental, Carlton Wheelers, and Kaieteur Cycle Clubs gathered at the Kitty, Seawall for the start of the race.

The senior category proved to be a straight battle between Williams and Lear Nunes. The two cyclists managed to break away from the pack at Perseverance, Mahaica and from then onwards it was virtually a two-man race with Alex Mendes, Eric Sankar, Chris Persaud and Junior Niles left to battle for the remaining top spots.

Williams was also victorious in the junior category holding off Christopher Holder who followed shortly after.

In the under-45 veteran category, Jackson, Turhan Harris and Virgil Jones finished first, second and third respectively while in the over-45 category, Kevin Jeffrey, Compton Persaud and Walter Isaacs finished in that order.

The event was followed by a presentation of trophies and cash prizes which were handed out to the first, second and third place finishers in each of the four categories.
