The Guyana Wado Ryu Karate Association (GWKA) held its  annual Junior Kumite Karate tournament on September 27 at the Banks DIH Sports Club.

The event was declared open by the Public Relations Officer of sponsors Banks DIH Limited.

A total of 55 karatekas ranging from 5 – 17 years representing four dojos of the GWKA, participated in the event.

This tournament culminates a successful 2009 campaign for the GWKA following the Annual National Senior Guyana Karate Federation Championship, which was held September, 20 at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall. Of the four  Kumite categories contested, the GWKA emerged victorious in three.
