McDonald, who is set to attend the World Scrabble Championships in November in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, displayed her true form after being away from several competitions since she won  the National Championships earlier in the year. McDonald obtained five games with a positive spread of 541 to beat rivals Moen Gafoor, Orlando Michael and Leon Belony. In an earlier game Belony lost to McDonald but returned to defeat Carlton Murray  to finish with five games and a spread of 408. Michael completed his stint to place third with four-and-a-half games and a positive spread of 119.

Michael in his path of destruction defeated Colin Chichester, Keith Allicock and Floyd Carmichael on his way to the top three spot.

GASP said they are continuing their quest to have McDonald represent Guyana at the World Scrabble Championships through donations from the public and a raffle which will be drawn in November.
