Captain of the host team, Ramnaresh Sarwan, said that he expects the competition to be a tough one since the teams all appeared very strong and their key players seemed in good form.

Sarwan, though, expressed his disappointment at the venue being unprepared when his team showed up for practice yesterday morning.

Also present were representatives of NCN, L&L Network, GCB, members of the WICB, tournament umpires, commentators and scorers.

L&L Network’s Andrew Mason said  historic step was being taken to provide commentary for all four matches per day but he declared that was a good move for the tournament.

“Last year over 95% of the commentators for the tournament were Guyanese and we are pleased with the advancement since then,” said Mason adding …“hence, we are going to be using that Guyanese talent again along with the great Curtly Ambrose and Fazeer  Mohammed who will be here to also do commentary.”
