Turning Point wins Tony Kissoon domino tournament

The ninth annual Tony Kissoon Memorial Domino tournament ended with Turning Point emerging victors with 88 games over Mo’ Fire (74) and Specialist (72) at the Malteenoes Sports Club (MSC) pavilion recently.

The month-long championships also saw Colin Hicken of Strikers and Amanda Singh of Taliban carting off the `King’ and ‘Queen’ domino titles respectively.

Carl Roach was named Turning Point’s MVP with 16 games while his team mates Leroy Edwards and Martin Permaul marked 15 games apiece.

Tricia Harper and Ofoufems Paul made 15 games each but Harper emerged MVP for the Mo’ Fire team.

Mark ‘Jumbie’ Wiltshire copped the MVP title for the Specialists with 16 games and his team mate Mark Welch scored 15 games.

At the presentation ceremony Robin Williams of the Guyana National Domino Federation (GNDF) and Wendell Mc Pherson hailed the tournament a success and also reported on aspects for improvement for next year. Widow of Kisson Arlene Kissoon presented the prizes to the winners.

The victorious Turning Point team came from Martin Permaul, Rawle Peters, Tony Seeraj, Tony Smith, Godfrey Caesar, Gordon Stephens, Leroy Edwards, Carl Roach and Andy Welch.
