$2.5 million for the taking at Rising Sun meet

Come Sunday the Rising Sun Turf Club of West Coast Berbice in collaboration with the Lions Cub of Durban Park and the Central Demerara Lions Club will stage a grand one-day horse race meet and $2.5 million in cash and prizes will be there for the taking.

A number of top notch events are also carded for the day’s programme, especially with the C class event carting off a first prize of $300,000 and the horses galloping over a distance of 1,400 metres.
On the other hand, the top three-year-olds in the country will battle a top prize of $250,000 over 1,600m.

Another high stakes race will be the two-year-old event for $200,000 as the top billing over a distance of 1,300m. The ‘F Class’ race, also over 1300m, will see the winner taking away the $160,000 first prize while the ‘G Class’ race for $100,000 will be run 1,400m.

In the other races, the ‘H Class’ event has a winning tag of $90,000 and goes for 1,300m and in the ‘J’, ‘K’ and ‘Lower’ the winner will receive $80,000 over a distance of 1,300m.

The ‘L Class’ category is the final race of the day and victory in this event will afford the champion $75,000 in the 1,100m sprint.
