- Hope and Future organization makes donation

The Mayor’s 75th Anniversary seven-a-side football competition continues tonight at the Tucville Playfield at 6pm with eight matches in the third round of the competition.

Georgetown Football Club (GFC) will tackle Rich Boys in the first match, then 30 minutes later Santos will go head to head with Young Achievers. From 7pm, Uprising will clash with Stewartville then Black Pearl will take on Seawall.

In the other four matches, Riddim Squad will challenge Brazilians, then it’s Guyana Defence Force (GDF) versus Golden Grove, Sunburst Camptown versus Majestics and Alpha United will go against  Victoria Kings in the final match of the night.

Meanwhile,  the Hope and Future Guyana organization yesterday donated five balls to the organizer of the Mayor Hamilton Green 75th birth anniversary seven-a-side inter-club football competition at City Hall.

Chairman of the Guyana branch of the organization, Jocelyn Dolphin, was accompanied by Terrence Haynes, who is also a member of the organization.

Hope and Future is a charitable organization operated from the head office in the United Kingdom and it has established a branch in Guyana which has been working in a few socially depressed areas through sports since its existence two years ago.

The head of the local body is Graeme Clark and its head office is located at 42 Phoenix Park, West Coast Demerara (WCD).

The chairman of the organization said the main goal of the organization is to create a diversion from negative activities through sports among individuals who are likely to be affected.

They have set up training centres for people to learn multiple skills that may help them in  future while  the Hope and Future organization has been supplying them with the required tools.

They also disclosed that they will be moving to numerous areas across the country such as New Amsterdam, Essequibo, and Laluni  in their effort to make a positive impact on society.
