After months of inactivity, Courts Pacesetters will be back into action tonight when the Georgetown Amateur Basketball Association (GABA) Open and third division knock-out tournaments bounce off at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall.

Armed with some of the country’s top players, Pacesetters have over the past two years, been Georgetown’s premier basketball club and tonight the champs will match skills against an unfamiliar opponent; the East/West Fire.

Little or nothing at all is known of the newly formed basketball club boasting former junior national point guards Kester Gomes and Jacob Lowe at the helm.

Pacesetters will be with out national coach Robert ‘Bobby’ Cadogan who will be replaced by Dennis Clarke. Cadogan, who is also secretary of the GABA, told Stabroek Sport he has chosen to focus on the administration of the game.

Royston Siland, Stephon Gillis and Naylon Loncke will lead Pacesetters’’ charge.

The winner of the Open division will receive $100,000.

Tonight’s third division showdown will be between Demerara Panthers under new sponsorship from Colours boutique, and Nets, a team boasting a miserable third division record.

Hits and Jams Television (HJTV), Windjammer Hotel and Facts and Roses are the sponsors of the tournament that will conclude on November 29.
