But Mac Kay, who won last year’s event in a time of one hour, 59 minutes and 31 second is expected to face a stiff threat from recent winner of the National Sports Commission/Ministry of Health five stage event Geron Williams.

Williams, who won the junior division of last year’s event, will be looking to complete the junior/senior double.

The race will commence from Wales Police Station at 09:00h, proceed to Bushy Park on the East Bank of Essequibo, before returning to Demerara Harbour Bridge for the finish.

Riders in the Open veteran category will turn back at Uitvlugt Community Centre and finish at the Harbour Bridge.

The first six finishers will receive prizes while there will be eight prime prizes.

The first three juniors, veterans and upright cyclists will also receive prizes.

Representatives of Diamond Mineral Water will start the race and finally present the prizes to the winning participants.

The race has been organized by Hassan Mohammed of the National Sports Commission.
